Fast Pitch Softball
Fast Pitch Softball (1st - 8th Grade)
RULES
3rd thru 8th Grade House Rules
PRACTICES AND GAMES
Practices will start on April 8, 2024. There are 1-2 practices per week leading up the first game. Games begin after Opening Day on May 11, 2024. Each age division will have an end of season tournament in mid-July. If there are not enough teams formed to support a Perrysburg only league, the softball teams will compete against other Northwest Ohio softball teams and travel up to 45 minutes may be required for some of the games and end of season tournament. All practices will be held in Perrysburg.
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
Each player will need to provide their own glove, batting helmet with mask/cage, fielding face mask, and bat at each practice and game. Please be sure to print your child’s name on the inside of all personal equipment. Molded Plastic Cleats, pants (with or without belt), and softball socks are needed at this level. Please ask your coach what color pants and socks are expected for your given team.
Equipment and clothing can be expensive. Please feel free to buy and sell used clothing and equipment from sites like this: Perrysburg Baseball and Softball Used Equipment.
TEAM SELECTION PROCESS
Players will be evaluated before the season to evenly distribute the players across the division to try to ensure that all teams will have equal skill sets and experience and ensure competitive balance.
Evaluations will be held on Saturday, March 16 from 11:30am-5pm. Each player will be asked to attend a 15 minute time slot. Time slots will be sent to all players individually a week prior to the evaluations.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Each team needs a head coach and one assistant coach. We also welcome parent helpers, although either the head or assistant coach must be present at all team events. The softball division has teams of 10-13 players. Do you have what it takes to coach?
A passion for the game
A desire to give the kids a fun experience while teaching them the fundamentals of the game
A basic understanding of the rules of the game
Availability during the season
All coach volunteers need to complete concussion and Lindsay's law training at the time of registration and will have the opportunity to go to a workshop to get coaching tips and training on how to use SportsConnect to manage their team.
To volunteer, register yourself as a coach when you register your child online! If you decide to sign up later, log into your account and click on the Volunteer tab on the left side of the page to complete the volunteer registration.
